CMIH

The CMIH (Centre for Medical Innovation in Hospitals) aims to provide concrete, innovative solutions to problems faced by patients or doctors in medical practices, or obstacles directly related to the quality, safety, or organization of healthcare.

Through our role as a facilitator in establishing a CIMH in the Brussels Region, lifetech.brussels aims to both encourage entrepreneurs to co-create high-potential solutions with end users and to accelerate the testing of promising entrepreneurial solutions.

The goal of this center is to help hospitals identify innovation needs and provide concrete responses through the creation of bespoke, value-creating pilot solutions.

A methodology for detecting and managing innovation will underpin this approach, allowing the hospital to sustain the initiatives started between June 2022 and December 2023 within the CIMH and to foster a culture of innovation.

Following a call for expressions of interest sent by lifetech.brussels to all Brussels hospitals in early 2022 and a thorough review of applications by an independent jury of health innovation and hospital sector experts, the Brussels University Hospital (H.U.B.), including Erasme, Bordet, and HUDERF (University Hospital for Children Queen Fabiola), was unanimously selected to develop a pioneering project in the Brussels Region: the establishment of a Centre for Medical Innovation in Hospitals (CIMH).

We hope this pilot project will also serve as a model for other Brussels hospitals wishing to follow in H.U.B.’s footsteps in developing a genuine culture of innovation, and allow more companies to develop, test, and implement their solutions on the ground, contributing to making Brussels a hub of excellence in healthcare.

“More for Brussels” This project received support from the ERDF between 2021 and 2023
