Established in the Brussels Region and wanting to develop – or join – a research and innovation (R&I) project in the health sector? Good news, there are currently a series of open (or soon to be) open calls under Horizon Europe Health:
- Under Horizon Europe Cluster 1 Health, 5 single-stage calls for proposals will close in April. Topics include pandemic preparedness, regenerative medicine, medical devices and IVDs as well as NAMs.
- HORIZON-HLTH-2024-DISEASE-08-20 – Pandemic preparedness and response: Host-pathogen interactions of infectious diseases with epidemic potential
- HORIZON-HLTH-2024-IND-06-08: Developing EU methodological frameworks for clinical/performance evaluation and post-market clinical/performance follow-up of medical devices and in vitro diagnostic medical devices (IVDs)
- HORIZON-HLTH-2024-IND-06-09: Gaining experience and confidence in New Approach Methodologies (NAM) for regulatory safety and efficacy testing – coordinated training and experience exchange for regulators
The Innovative Health Initiative (IHI) recently launched call 6 (deadline April) and call 7 (deadline May) with topics on healthcare system resilience, the use of real-world data, clinical management of heart disease, optimised hospital workflows and clinical validation of biomarkers for diagnosis, monitoring disease progression and treatment response.
Global Health European and Developing Countries Clinical Trials Partnership 3 (Global Health EDCTP3) also published its 2024 calls (deadline April) focused on infectious diseases in sub-Saharan Africa.
Finally, the Mission on Cancer 2024 Work Programme will be published later this trimester and the deadlines are expected to be in September.
- HORIZON-MISS-2024-CANCER-01-01: Use cases for the UNCAN.eu research data platform
- HORIZON-MISS-2024-CANCER-01-02: Support to the development of national cancer data nodes (CSA)
- HORIZON-MISS-2024-CANCER-01-03: Accessible and affordable risk predictor tests to advance early detection of heritable cancers in European regions
- HORIZON-MISS-2024-CANCER-01-04: Support a pragmatic clinical trial programme by cancer charities
- HORIZON-MISS-2024-CANCER-01-06: An information portal for the European Cancer Patient Digital Centre (IA)
Health is also an important topic under the Belgian EU Presidency. Don’t miss on 19 and 20 February the High-level conference Research Perspectives on the Health Impacts of Climate Change organised in Brussels.
