UCL has set up the Louvain Technology Transfer Office or LTTO (ltto.com), which associates the teams of the UCL Research Administration Department and Sopartec, the UCL technology transfer company.

For Researchers

The LTTO acts as a single desk where academic researchers and UCL partners can find a full range of integrated services in the field of technological transfer.

For Companies

The LTTO assists companies in identifying which UCL technologies may best meet their development needs and which UCL team would be the best to work with. Technologies that are directly available for commercialization are listed here.

Spin-off Creation

The LTTO plays a significant role in the economic exploitation of knowledge by supporting the creation of spin-off companies. UCL has a longstanding success story in developing research spin-offs. To date, 64 spin-offs have been created based on technologies developed at UCL, resulting in more than 2,400 jobs.

With the financial support of Innoviris, the LTTO has helped set up four spin-offs in the Brussels Region over the past two years: Knowbel, Domobios, Intuitim, and Skemmi. More information can be found here.

Incubators

To further support the continuous development of spin-offs, UCL has created two company incubators:

  • Brussels Life Science Incubator (BLSI) (blsincubator.be): Located at the UCL biomedical campus, this incubator is dedicated to life and health sciences. It benefits from top-level expertise from UCL specialists and several scientific platforms.
  • Centre d’Entreprise et d’Innovation (CEI) (ceilln.be): Located at the Louvain-la-Neuve campus.
